What is the ONE GENRE you wish you could get into, but just can't?
The one genre that I really have never been able to get into (but really wish I could) is non-fiction. I love history and historical fiction to death. But I find that when reading biographies of certain historical figures, I just can't finish the darn book. I think it's because I'm such a hopeless romantic. That, and the art-less prose is just really hard for me to get through.

So with you on non-fiction. If I can I will avoid my textbooks (history major) so why would I seek it out in my free time? Maybe after college.

The best nonfiction actually reads like fiction. I'd recommend Coop by Michael Perry, or The Poisoner's Handbook (sorry, don't remember the author on those). I really liked both of those, and they're both completely different topic-wise but read smoothly, with a great pace.

Alison: Lisa Sandell wrote Song of the Sparrow, my personal favorite book of all time. Lisa Klein wrote Ophelia, Two Girls of Gettysburg, and Lady Macbeth's Daughter. Helen Hollick has written a great series on Arthurian Legend, and she wrote a fantastic book called The Forever Queen.

I confess that the only author on your list I'm slightly familiar with is Libba Bray. I recently saw her, together with Meg Cabot & Maggie Stiefvater, at a book signing in my area.
I have a couple of Libba's books, but have yet to read them, because I just have SO many books in my TBR pile!! I really enjoyed her talk at the book signing, and promise myself to start on "A Great and Terrible Beauty" sometime this year! Lol.
As for the other authors you've mentioned, I'll have to google them. But it's great to find out about new authors!! So, thanks!!
